# Delete a metaobject definition

> Remove a metaobject definition.

`DELETE /rest/api/metaobject_definitions/{id}`

Removes the MetaobjectDefinition resource.

Removes a metaobject definition. Returns `204 No Content` on success.

> Deleting a definition removes the object type. The [Metaobjects](/api/product-management/metaobjects/) built from it - and any [Metafield](/api/product-management/metafields/) references pointing at them - are affected. Make sure the type is no longer in use first.
