# Retrieve a metafield definition

> Retrieve a metafield definition by its identifier.

`GET /rest/api/metafield_definitions/{id}`

Retrieves a MetafieldDefinition resource.

Returns a single metafield definition by id, including its `type`, `validations`, `constraints` and `metafieldsCount`.
